A very exciting grassroots effort is underway to encourage all students Nationwide to recycle. After reading the book, “When Will We Be Recycled, Momma,” students will vow, to take pride in their earth and be responsible for recycling their own plastic bottles.
“When Will We Be Recycled, Momma?” takes students on an adventure as Jack, a plastic water bottle, journeys from a grocery store shelf to a recycling plant where he emerges into a new life as a spaceship! Inspired by her own children’s passion for recycling, Stephanie Armenia, a local children’s author, created this inspiring tale which stresses the importance of recycling in a fun, kid-friendly way.
A teacher’s guide with extension activities that correlate to the Sunshine State Standards will also be available for download to drive home the important connection between kids and their environmental choices.
The program rolled out for Earth Day, April 22, 2011 and will continue to encourage students Nationwide to take the “Recycling Vow.”
The dream goal is to spread the passion for reading and recycling by gifting students with a recycling book in their hand and a passion for a greener tomorrow in their heart.
